Life Long Quests
So inspired by two separate events I have lifelong quests onthe brain. Firstly, my girlfriend finally found a copy of a small press book that she has been looking for. It was written by a dear friend of hers years ago and she has never actually owned a copy. Finally, through the magic of the internet, she has a copy in her hands. The second event happened today when I saw lfarm’s post about crushing on one of the guys one The Bachelorette. She posted about her crush and asked if anyone in Chicago (he’s from Chicago) knew this guy. Turns out someone did.
So, my eternal quest, that I am sharing with my peeps, has been to find a book of mine from childhood. The first step is finding the title and/or author, both of which I have no recollection of. It was a book I borrowed repeatedly from the school library when I was in first grade and only knew how to find it based on its physical location in the library. What I do remember was the plot. It was about a mouse who wanted to be an inventor. So he did what any right-thinking mouse would do, he went to the formost inventor mouse and pleaded to be his apprentice. As luck would have it our mouse finds a way into the inventor’s lab and begins his work. The part is remember most, and what has stuck with me all these years, causing me to periodically ask google to help me, was when the mouse failed. He broke something or messed something up, and the inventor kicked him out. Now I’m sure that our mouse found a happy ending, but the failure is why I kept reading this book. So, I got a plot, and a vague recollection of the cover being red. Anyone else have a soft spot for anthropomorphic miced who want to be inventors but fail?
